what do you think of milk and nuts as protein sources?

i am a nutritionist and eat a lot of veggies and fruits. the irony of my being is i am not fond of animal protein sources. does anybody out there have an opinion about milk, nuts and tofu as the sole sources?

the lazy eating nutritionist.

    Hi Suz,

milk , nuts and tofu are all excellent vegetarian sources of protein. If you are not fond of animal sources , than you dont have to worry about your protein intake if you are regular on the above mentioned items. tofu and soyabean are the best plant protein available. where as milk provides not only protein bt other vital nutrients like calcium, riboflavin. and nuts are good source of protein and essential acids.

as you are a nutritionist yourself , please watch out for any protein deficiency symptoms like hair fall, or pale n dull skin, brittle nails , over all energy levels and enthusiasm. in case if you see any of these symptom, increase your intake of protein. but ideally if you have around 50gms of protein every day (this is general , please calulate your actual requirement by multiplying 0.5 - 1 gms protein per kg body weight, depending on your activity level.) then it should be suffiecient. have atleast 2 glasses of milk every day. you can also incorporate curd in yopur meals.

besides this even pulses and legumes can be incorporated in your meal. egg whites too (if you like them)

thank you very much for the great advice. you are right! although somehow i know the right thing to do, i guess my appetite is really a problem too. i am a writer for a local mag here. i guess when i start my work, i forget about food until my stomach really growls. but then, i believe i need an appetite stimulant.

    very grateful here! : )

    anytime suz ..

I think it happens to all of us , in the work pressure we ourselves forget to practice what we preach to our clients . but a self realisation is alwaz gud .. !! i wont give you any suggestions on appetite stimulants ,im sure you are very well aware of the list !!! and thank you for making me and other dieticians realize the same too ! :)
