    Hey Jagnat,
You might have come across suggestions like eat more, consume fatty food, take some supplements etc. to gain weight. I do agree that, to increase your body weight, you need to increase your caloric intake more than your caloric expenditure. But are these suggestions helpful? Many individuals in spite of high caloric diet remains as it is lean and skinny, those who put on just have a unhealthy fat mass risking their health.
Healthy way to increase body weight is by increasing lean body mass i.e. muscle mass instead of fat mass. Start with progressive resistance training or so called strength training to increase your muscle mass. Along with this consume high protein diet to complement and fuel your strength training. Make sure you have sufficient pre and post workout meal so as to compensate the calories burned during exercises and reduce the physiological stress from the body. Your weight gain should be a gradual process and thus, be patient and consistent for good result.

    Hey Jagnat,
As I have mentioned, increasing your dietary intake is not just enough. As you aim to gain weight and become more healthier so start with some strength training program so that your weight gain is due to muscle mass and not just fat. Its not necessary to join some gym or club. You can even start with some home workouts using resistance bands and tubes, calisthenic exercises, exercises using free weights etc.
Compliment your strength training with high protein diet. Include whey protein, protein bars and shakes especially in you post workout meal.

Jaganat Nath until you start with strength training don't jump to protein supplements straight away. Focus on the natural sources like Peanut butter, Almonds, Soya chunks and Soya Milk, Tofu, diary products like milk, curd, cheese etc., Organic Chicken, Egg especially organic DHA-Enhanced Eggs , Salmon, Tuna fish, etc.
