Through careful planning of your meals you can gain weight. Protein is a powerful fuel that helps in gaining lean muscles. Fishes like tuna, salmon, cod and animal fats like steak, chicken breast, and lean ground beef should be a vital part of your regular meal. And try to load up on complex carbohydrates like brown rice, whole grains, and oatmeal. Peanut butter, almonds, walnuts, olive oil, and flax seed oil all contain good fats that are very vital for gaining weight in your body. And in between your meals try to have small snacks like few slices of apple, beef jerky, nuts, and baked potato chips.

Comments by Ruchi and Manasi above are spot on. Not only for gaining weight, but also for losing fat and maintaining a healthy weight.

If your skinny and want to gain healthy weight quickly. The cheapest and best item would be MILK. Yes, its cheap and is easily available everywhere.

If your skinny, you can drink Full Cream or Whole Fat Milk without any issues. It really help you to get out of your hanger look in no time. Later you can shift from Full Cream or Whole Fat Milk to Toned Milk, which contains less fat than the Full Cream Milk.

Start with drinking 1/2 Litre of Milk a day, follow it for 1 week, then add 1/2 Litre more the next week and so on. Build your capacity of drinking upto 2-3 Litre of Milk in a day and you'll be big in no time.

    Hi Prashant

Full cream milk contain high fat, fatty weight is not good. Healthy weight gain try 2 % fat milk or 1% fat milk which maintain your fat level as well ur weight.

    Hi Sujeetha,

I agree with you, but if someone is really very skinny, which means that person is very low on body fat %, starting with Full Cream Milk for couple of weeks won't harm and won't be a health issue. Once the person gains a little weight with it, shifting to Toned or 2% fat milk would be ideal.
