There are number of ways you can keep a track on your alcohol consumption and try and reduce/minimize the quantity. If you are a regular drinker, i.e. 4-5 days a week, first thing you can do is avoid alcohol on the weekdays and make minor changes in the lifestyle like doing physical activity instead. When you are drinking, try to substitute every second drink with water, non-alcoholic beer, coffee or a soft drink. If you normally visit a bar on the way home from work, take a different route home, so you won't be tempted to stop at the bar or better still try to start going to the gym straight after work. Take up a new hobby or interest to occupy the time when you would usually be drinking. Drink only when there is a party or any particular occasion. Keep a count of your drinks. Once you have a count, decide on how much you want to reduce and follow that routine in that week. At the end of each week or two check on the count again and feel a sense of achievement. Learn to say NO. Avoid being with people or friends who are hard core drinkers. If you feel light/ good after drinking, find some other substitute like doing yoga or meditation which will also help you relieve stress and give peace of mind.
