Smoking doesn't cause weight gain, but its later when you quit, one may notice weight gain from 2 to 3 kgs. Nicotine affects our bodies in a variety of ways, one of which is to elevate metabolism, so when we quit smoking, metabolism slows and a slight gain is usually the result. If the scales go higher than a 10 pound gain though, chances are you'r eating habits have changed.

There is a possibility of you gaining weight after you quit smoking, probably because after quitting, to kill your oral craving or to distract yourself you may start eating more and not care if you are eating healthy or not.
