Applying oilve oil to the infants is sometimes okay, but some parents do complain that after applying oilve oil their baby has lost their original color and have started becoming darker. It depends upon the atmosphere and the temperature where you are located too. Also on what other baby products you are using like creams and powders.

My baby was very fair 6 months back. Have been using coconut oil for massaging. But during winter I switched over to olive oil and some people told me that it would darken skin. I found his skin is slowly losing its colour (been 4 weeks of usage).

Apart from that I use all Johnson's baby products like soaps, washes, cream, lotion and powder from day 1. But those have never caused any issues. I guess Ill switch back to coconut oil. I was using olive oil cause it didnt have the issue of solidifying.

Yes Kaala, if you have observed that, then it is better to switch back to the coconut oil. If at all you are using olive oil, make sure you don't take it directly on your hand, first your shake the oil well before removing from the bottle and warm it a little bit, rub it on your palms for few seconds and then apply it on the baby so that it spreads evenly and doesn't leave the skin greasy. Good luck!! :)
