1. Do not skip meals and try to eat in between the meals too, light snacks like roasted chana, steamed corn, khakara or also fruits.
2. Avoid eating food while watching television, while on computer, reading newspaper and such acts where you mind is distracted and you do not have a conscious control over your food. You might end up over eating.
3. Ask yourself is it a physical need to eat or just a psychological craving. Loneliness, boredom, anger, frustration, and procrastination are some of the many reasons other than hunger why people eat. If you recognize any of them as your personal triggers, seek help to deal with the underlying causes of your overeating. This can be a case of emotional eating.
4. Consciously distract yourself from the craving and do something that will keep you busy fr a while. Call a friends, read a book or start cleaning your room or desk.
5. If you want to gradually cut down on specific food items, eat half the quantity of what you usually eat and then slowly reduce the amount.
6. Find substitutes like eat a dark chocolate instead of the regular milk ones which have less calories.
