Rest the nicotine gum between the gums and the cheeks. Do not chew on the gum like a regular sugar gum. The idea is to let the gum diffuse in the capillaries of your cheeks so that it then goes into the bloodstream. Initially chew half or one fourth of the gum as your mouth may not be used to the taste. As and when you get the hang of the taste try taking the whole gum. Try to chew approximately the same amount of gum each day for one month. The gums are to be taken whenever there is a craving. Make sure that you take gums when you have completely stopped smoking. Do not take any beverages or eat anything else 15 minutes before you eat the gums, while you chew and 15 minutes after the gums are consumed.
