Yes it is possible to get chronic depression from stress. Many people go through depression after a stressful event in their lives. Let me give you an example, after the death of my dog (a very stressful event in my life) I got into depression. There could be a lot of reasons like losing a loved one, a break up in your relationship, losing a job and so on. The key factor is how you are going to get out of it. Join a yoga or meditation session. Meet people and don't keep to yourself. May be you can spill out your frustration and pent up emotions to a friend.

Traumatic events that make our lives stressful such as the death of a loved one, a failed relationship or maybe the loss of a job can lead to depression. In rare cases, even positive stress can lead to the development of clinical depression such as a move, getting married or even a new job. The level of stress that might cause depression really does vary for each individual. Some people can handle an enormous amount of stress and there are others that sink into depression at the first sign of trouble.
A relaxation regimen is an excellent way to improve your reaction to tough situations.
Make time for yourself. In the long run you will actually be saving time because you are more productive when you feel better.
