Some women experience no symptoms or side effects when they get their monthly periods, but I guess it differs from person to person. Women may experience nausea during their periods, and this is one of the most common symptoms. Heavy bleeding can also occur during the menstrual cycle, accompanied by cramping. Certain emotional effects arise during a woman's periods as well. It's hard to zero in on the effects that a person's menstrual cycle can have on their health, but any recurring symptom should be brought to light immediately. Certain serious side effects like dysmenorrhea can also occur during this time.

    Hey Deeksha,
As Lizzy said that many women dont experience any side effects while some feel very bad cramps in their tummy and in many cases pain would radiate to back or even till thighs. Some time pain is so worst that one has to take rest.

In addition, you might feels stressed out, fluctuation in weight, sudden change in mood. If your diet is not proper, you might suffer from anemia also. Headache, nausea is sometimes accompanied during the cycle.
