ITB syndrome is illio tibial band syndrome which is thickening and inflammation of the band present at out outer thigh extending from hip till upper part of leg and side of knee joint. ITB Syndrome causes mainly because of intense uphill and down hill running, Running on uneven surfaces, running up and down stairs, lack of enough warm up and cool down , and also during or after pregnancy ,etc. It may bring the symptoms of pain at the band region especially at a point lateral to your knee joint. The pain starts with the activity and may also last long even after the activity. It may increase especially when heel strikes the ground. Treatment will be the standard PRICE protocol . Protection by orthotics available, giving Rest to the part , applying Ice to reduce inflammation, Compression, and exercises to improve the flexibility of the IT band and to strengthen the band.
