Hi Bill, I came across some similar researchs:
1. Researchers have found that magnesium L-threonate administered to rats significantly boosts their cognitive abilities, and suggest that the same effect may occur in humans, although this remains to be tested.
2. Neuroscientists at MIT and Tsinghua University in Beijing show that increasing brain magnesium with a new compound enhanced learning abilities, working memory, and short- and long-term memory in rats. The study showed that people who got less than 400 mg of magnesium per day were more at risk for various diseases. Magnesium is generally found in green leafy veggies, yet another reason to eat them in mass quantities. But as people age they tend to get less and less of this mineral which has shown to help with memory and other brain functions.
Another thing is: The most important B vitamins for memory include B6, B12, and Folic Acid (B9). You can increase the B vitamins in your diet by taking vitamin supplements and by consuming healthly, natural foods such as spinach and other dark, leafy greens; broccoli, asparagus, strawberries, melons, black beans, leeks, and other legumes, citrus fruits such as oranges and grapefruit, and soybeans.
See if this information helps you.. good luck!!
