Chromium is an essential component of the human body and it helps in various aspects of the daily functioning. Chromium helps the body digest fat and cholesterol. This is why many people opt for chromium picolates. Chromium is naturally available in several foods and this is the best bet, but most of these foods are meat based. So if you are a vegetarian like me then the next best thing is chromium pico. Some people say there are a few side effects for this. But as far as I know I have never experienced any problems as such. I have been using it for two years now.

Chromium picolinate is commonly used in multivitamins and supplements. Humans require a small amount of chromium, and most people consume it through their diet. As with most other vitamins, minerals, or supplements, people use chromium picolinate for many different uses. These supplements are often claimed to:
    *Aid in weight loss
*Lower blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes
*Increase blood sugar in people with hypoglycemia
*Help with depression or other mood disorders
    *Treat polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
*Help in athletic training (such as for body building).

Of all the common uses for chromium picolinate, using it to help with type 2 diabetes has the most scientific evidence.
