Absolutely No. For a diabetic person proper food intake with proper timing is very important. Detox diet plan are very low in calories. If diabetic person does detox diets, his or her sugar level will go down resulting in hypoglycemia. For a diabetic person , diet should be rich in whole grain fibers, good quality proteins and minimum fats intake and fruits and salad intake.

I agree with the above discussion, detox diet strict is a big no for a diabetic. For a diabetes person diet and medication go hand in hand. specially for insulin dependent ones. It will result in hypoglycemia and sometimes leads to coma.

    Alrighty, here we go.
I'm a Type 1 Diabetic and I have done MULTIPLE body detoxes. No junk food, no fast food, no pop. This is along with exercise and smaller portions of food more frequently. All it has ever done is help me get my glucose back on track. I would recommend it to ANY diabetic. You guys are so ridiculously uneducated about diabetes if you think that eating healthier, smaller portions of food and exercising more will automatically lead to hypoglycemia. Not to mention if your blood sugar were to drop, there is such a thing as JUICE. . . If you guys are diabetics, I'm sorry but you're a disgrace to actually EDUCATED diabetics.

    Hey kasey !

the food items that you said you are restricting like, " No junk food, no fast food, no pop. This is along with exercise and smaller portions of food more frequently. " are the basic principles of planning a routine diabetic diet. and yes ofcourse it is 100 % true taht any diabetic following these guidelines will have better control over his blood sugar.

none of the expert above have mentioned " that eating healthier, smaller portions of food and exercising more will automatically lead to hypoglycemia". this was what you wrongly percieved out of above discussions.

with no offence, can you please give us some more details about your detox plan ? i mean the total calories you were taking and the kind of food you were including ? this will help us experts in updating our knowledge and also " educate" the needy diabetics who would be anxious to go on a detox after reading the benefits you availed !

Dr. Asa Andrews explained, Diabetes is one of the most common diseases in America. Our high-sugar, high-carbohydrate, low fiber diets are doing a real number on our internal systems, fueling the diabetic problem. If you’re a diabetic, you’ve already got health concerns, so you need to follow your doctor’s recommendations for diet, exercise, and lifestyle choices.

But what if you want to do a colon cleanse or a detox? Are detoxes even viable for diabetics? As a diabetic, you have special dietary needs that can make a normal detox a challenge, but not impossible!
