Iliotibial band syndrom

Can you suggest a cure for lliotibial band syndrom ?

    The Iliotibial band syndrome occurs with the inflammation of the Iliotibial band. This band is a thick and fibrous tissue that is on the outer layer of the leg. It begins from the hips and extends up to the outer part of the shin bone, which is just below the knee joint. This band coordinates with several other thigh muscles and maintains and provides stability to the outer knee joint. Many athletes suffer from this syndrome. Stretching helps a lot, but it won't be enough to take care of this issue. It is best you consult a physical therapist who can help you strengthen your hip and thigh muscles.

    Hey Rashmi,
    Stretching and icing is the best remedy for Iliotibial band syndrome. You need to do hold illiotibial band stretch for atleast 20 counts for better results. Heat therapy is used once the syndrome exceeds 48 hours.

    Iliotibial band syndrome, or ITBS, is due to inflammation of the iliotibial band, a thick band of fibrous tissue that runs down the outside of the leg. ITBS occurs when there is irritation to this band of fibrous tissue. Treatment of ITBS begins with efforts to control the inflammation. It includes:
    *Rest
    *Icing the area of discomfort can help to relieve the pain and settle the inflammation.
    *Anti-inflammatory medications are frequently recommended to help relieve inflammation about the iliotibial band.
    *Stretching of iliotibial band
    *Instruct a person to avoid hills, shorten stride, and run on alternate sides of road
    *Contrast baths
    *Local steroid injection
