Been playing with fire lately have you? Blisters are a common injury and quite easy to treat. But, the treatment depends on the intensity of the burn and extensive burns have to be treated by a qualified physician. Minor burns can be treated at home, using the first aid kit. Firstly, place the burn under cold running water and let it clean thoroughly. Ideally around 5 minutes is required. Whatever you do, do not apply a plaster as this cuts off the air and it will take much longer to heal. Analgesics are available at any pharmacy and this should be gently. If blisters persist, visit the doctor.

Ti treat a blister burn The best thing to do with such blisters is to leave them alone. Trying anything like lancing or trying to squeeze out the water from them can lead to a slowdown of healing, and worse, infection. Treat the blister carefully, and ensure that it does not burst for as long as possible, because blisters indicate second degree burns that can actually turn serious and infect you. Do remember that the watery substance trapped in the blister is actually helping your burn to heal. Once the cover of the blister turns red, it will burst on its own and drain. This is the best way to treat a burn blister. For relief from the pain, you can apply toothpaste to a blister. A peppermint toothpaste is the best of all. It will cool down the skin and provide relief, and the fluoride is believed to act as a healing agent. You can also ice it regularly, but remember to do this only after the skin covering it has begun to thicken. This would indicate that the healing process has begun and is well underway. Applying aloevera gel is also a good way to provide relief, as is a paste of olive oil and peppermint leaves. Milk cream is also a soothing application on a burn blister.
