The natural lubricant which develops in the intestinal lining, urinary tract, respiratory system, nose and other vital organs in the body is mucus. Mucus plays an important role in shielding the body from invasion of foreign particles. Mucus can become annoying when it is secreted in excess and begins to leak from different parts of the body. If mucus is clear then it is healthy otherwise if it is brown, white, yellow or green then it means infection is present. Mucus can be removed using common household items and ingredients like salt and water. Salt water gargle helps remove mucus from throat. Steam inhalation can remove mucus from the nostrils. A bulb sucker or aspirator is also used to remove mucus.
