    Tomato chutney is relatively easy. And if you’re as bad as a cook as I am, it’s one of the easiest recipes to make. Get some fresh tomatoes from the supermarket and check if you have a blender at home. Otherwise, you might have to end up bashing them up by with a motor and pestle. I can assure you this is not fun. Add the tomatoes in the blender along with two or three red chilies or one table spoon of chili powder which ever you prefer and some salt for taste. Some recipes include asafetida and a little bit of sugar. Mix them up in the blender for 2 minutes with little bit of water and you have fresh tomato chutney. Good Luck.

    Tomato chutney Ingredients: Chopped tomatoes- 2 large, chopped onions – 1 large, chopped garlic – 1-2no, red chilli powder 3/4tsp, tamarind juice- 2tbsp, oil-1/2tsp, salt to taste, Curry leaves- few, mustard seeds- 1/2tsp, pinch of asafetida powder.
    Method: Fry the chopped onions, add garlic & fry it for 2-3mins, add the tomatoes & fry till the tomatoes are cooked & mashed, add chilli powder, salt & stir for 3mins. Remove from fire & cool it for 5mins. Put it in mixer & grind it as fine paste. To garnish : Heat oil , put mustard seeds, after sometimes add curry leaves & asafetida, allow 1/2min to saute & add it to paste & mix it well. Enjoy with roti or rice.
