Wow, an adventure sport enthusiast! A mountain bike race can be really grueling. There are certain things you need to do in order to be ready for the race. First of all you need to stay away of alcohol, coffee and cigarettes. Ensure that you have healthy and wholesome meals. Avoid fatty and oily food. You need to increase your intake of carbohydrates and proteins. Carbohydrates will provide you energy for the race. You need to increase the amount of water you drink as well. This will help you fight dehydration. During the race, ensure that you’ve a couple of energy bars ready. Other than that, you need cycle everyday to reach the amount of distance you’re planning to cover.

Not necessarily true. If you regularly smoke and drink coffee-then keep to your pattern. Work on riding through cramps and pain by staying hydrated and fed over the course of the race. When you cross the finish line crak a beer and have a smoke! and don't forget to eat!
