Lifting heavy objects with improper techniques can cause unwanted strain or muscle pull in the spine, knees or arms. Lifting objects with correct posture and techniques can prevent the pain and also saves on the energy expenditure. Following steps show the correct lifting techniques:
-Keep the object close to your body while lifting.
-Keep your feet shoulder width apart as it will increase the base of support.
-Tuck in your abdominal muscles. Tight abs will prevent the excessive force on spine.
-Bend your knees to lift and keep the back straight.
-Lift the object slowly by raising the knees, don't jerk.
-Avoid turning and twisting sideways while lifting or holding the object.
