Ramadan fasts can funnily enough result in you gaining a few unnecessary pounds. A friend of mine who religiously follows the fasting schedule goes on a diet every year after the month of Ramadan. Yes, even though you may be fasting it is easy to gain weight because the iftar or the fast breaking meal is extremely rich. Given that you have been fasting through the day, there is also a tendency to overeat. At your iftar dinner, avoid carbohydrates and eat normal quantities from all food groups. Say no to all fried foods and sweets offered. Instead round off your meal with healthy fruit options. Drink plenty of water between your iftar meal and the beginning of the next day’s fast. It detoxifies your body and thus helps control weight.
