Stair climbing is gaining popularity and is a great fitness workout. Imagine, you can burn up to 500 calories every hour; of course a lot depends on your weight. If you plan on including climbing stairs to shed flab, then keep these points in mind. Wear a good pair of shoes to climb stairs. You can start by doing a couple of flights first; never overdo your exercise routine. Increase the number of flights as you progress. Take each step at a time and rest if necessary. If your find your heart rate increasing then do stop for a rest. Never climb stairs briskly after a heavy meal. Climbing stairs is a simple exercise but an high intensity workout when done with care.

    Hi Jason,
I agree with Nicholas. Climbing stairs is indeed a great activity to reduce your hips and fat around your body. You need to do this activity atleast for 30 min in day or more than that. But if you are have any lower body joint problems like knee, ankle, hips pain then its better you avoid this activity as it would lead to increase in the condition and pain.
