really really unattainable goal .. If you run at the speed of 6 km per hour , you burn 375 cals. so that means that even if you run at the above mentioned speed for 12 hours you burn only 4500 cals. forget reaching 7000 calorie goal in a day. no one would be able to run that much. wake up dear ...

    Hi Supriya

Are you joking? 7000 calories in a day is not possible to burn the calorie. I think you wrongly mentioned instead of 700. You can burn 700 calories from running- Running (11 km/hr)708Calories per hour or cycling- Cycling (30 km/hr)740Calories per hour. More important maintain ur calorie intake as well.

Hi Supriya.... 7000 calories in a day? Really a very impossible thing. Why you want to rush for a weight loss? Opt for better options and go for healthy weight loss with healthy diet and regular exercises. Include more of cardio training exercises like skipping, swimming, running, jogging, brisk walking, etc. We need to do these exercises for 45 min in a day. So review your goal and go for a healthy weight loss.

Who said you can't burn 7000 calories per day..u can with little bit of effort, I used to exercise for 4 hours 5am to 9am every day and used to burn 4200 calories per day as my office has a gym and it has a calorie meter and believe me the weighing machine used to show me 400gm less after the session...i suppose if you work for 8 hours, u can easily reach that target, because i have done it once on weekend and I did touch 6200 calories but care must be taken that u have a lot of protein in ur diet and pls start slowly..for further detail let me know..i will tell you how i used to do it.. and it works...i did it for 6 months at a stretch with no injuries whatsoever and i am not a very strong person..but i did managed it..so can u.

Rajesh, for ur information, if at all u lose 7000 calories in a day, there are very bright chances of the same coming back, u may even get more than 7000 as a gift from nature, this is called bounce back, becoz ur metabolism will change only for the day u worked out so hard, but the next day, it will be back to normal,
if u really want to cut down calories, u shud start do something abt calorie intake i.e proper diet

not everyone has a gym in the office, and nobody has the time to run 8 hours a day,
    8 hours sleep
    8 hours workout
    8 hours of work
    =========
    24 hours

my dear friend, when will u spend time with family, when wil u go to market, when will u go to toilet, when wil u take bath, when will u eat, when will u commute to office, when u talk to someone on fone??

means, if people take ur advise, they must forget about living their lives the NORMAL way...
and I didnt like it when u abused the dietitians....

@Rahul: I understand your emotions but the question here was plain and simple: Can we burn 7000 Calories in a day? and the answer should be devoid of any assumption on the part of the Asker, you never know she may be a student on vacation and is having a gym at home! and wants to rejoin the college after becoming fit!! Saying absolute things like 'never', 'impossible' even without having a proper understanding of the things is not what a person should be answering in forum and is definetly not expected of a dietician, forgive my frankness.

    Rajesh,
    its not about my emotions...
its about science, the faster u lose weight, the faster u gain it back.
ideal weight loss is 3-5 kgs per month...
if u lose more kgs like 10 kgs in 1 month, be very much sure that u will gain 12-13 kgs back as soon as u leave ur weight loss practices..
so, a healthy weight loss is thru dieting, and exercising.
this will give u a stable weight loss for the entire life

@ rajesh - we dietician do not advice just for the sake of advicing, coz at the end of the day the person trust our advices and practices our tips. the moment we answer somebody's question, we become responsible for the outcome and the persons health.

we are sworn by our profession to advice only practicle things to those who take our help, not only this but the advice has to be medically correct. It is not wise to advice some one to exercise for 8 hours in a day. the side effects of over exercising can be dangerous - Physical side effects include muscular atrophy and skeletal injuries such as shin splits, bone fractures, arthritis, or damage to cartilage and ligaments. Too much exercise can lead to the release of excessive free radicals, which have been linked to cellular mutations and cancer. Females may cease menstruation, a condition called amenorrhea, the person can become severly dehydrated and fall unconcious.

today you advice this person on a forum to exercise for 8 hours , but the person may not be fortunate like you to escape any injury. most of all you need to understand that you are putting a person's health at stake. we are here to promote the well being of a person and not to put his health at risk. we are responsible professionals and do not promote such impracticle goals.

line of caution - working out for 4 hours on a treadmill or any such equipment may lead to injuries of the knee muscles and bone. if you do not trust the dietician , you can consult a doctor for your satisfaction.

@ rahul - Thanks for understanding our prospective and showing us the respect. and putting light on some more practicle points in this discussion.

I agree with payal and rahul.
You cannot just go by the qs. If you just answer the qs in yes or no, would amount to incomplete answer. If I was one asking this qs, i would definately expect specifically the dietician to give me the complete picture, list out the pros and the cons and most important advice me the pitfalls and the damages that I would subject by body to.

@Futuristic Mihir: Do u think the dieticien has given the complete picture in the first time she answered the question? and complete picture mean explaining both sides of the coin and not just saying the another side does not exist!!

@Priyanka/Rahul: I am enlightened by your reply, but as someone replied the answer should always be complete and not just one side of the coin, here it being the 'dieticien side', I dont want to prolong this discussion further else i will end up burning 7000 calories just typing on my keyboard :)

Thank you Payal and Rahul. Gained valid information in my weight loss journey. I was setting unrealistic target of more than 5kg loss in a month. Guess now I have to keep it within an attainable target. Really helpful when the answers come from professionals. Thanks once again.

To burn 7000 + calories a day... Hmmm... Join Tour de France.

The cyclists DAILY burn 4000 to 8000 calories!!! For 20 days in a row! And their caloric intake is just around that. So I guess it answers the question "how to burn 7000 calories in a day. Simple.
