Always remember the golden rule of lifting “Exhale during Exertion. “ Before you go for lifting do relaxed breathing i.e. inhale smoothly through your nose and exhale through mouth slowly. Now when you go for lifting exhale and when you place the weight down inhale. Many people tend to hold breath while lifting, this can lead to abrupt rise in intra abdominal and intra thoracic pressure which in turn causes increase in heart rate and blood pressure due to pressure overload on heart.

    Hey Lavanya,
I completely agree with Nishthha, proper breathing pattern is a very important factor to be taken care of while lifting weight. Never hold the breathe as it can cause increase in the internal pressures of the body which can lead to hernia, faintness, dizziness or even damage eyes.Take several deep breathes before lifting the weights. Now,exhale when you lifts weights and the exhalation should continue till the muscle contractions lasts.Start inhaling as you bringing the weights down to their original position.
