GYM vs Yoga Vs Home Exercises

Hi Guys,

I would like to know your expert opinions and experience about which is best ?

Target: reducing body weight upto 25 KG and gain overall fitness and then maintain it... ( big deal i guess to maintain it.... :) )

as we all aware that having busy with the work schedule it's sometime tough to follow your daily exercises routine. i think below pros and cons of each and need your views.

(1) GYM:
a. Pros:
i. Professional instructors with professional and detailed/personal guidelines.
ii. Expensive equipments to use, which optimize exercises effects.
iii. Will boost thoughts to go to gym (as we paid for that :0 ).
iv. Meet with like minded peoples.
v. Somewhat encouragements due to +ve results in shorter time....
b. Cons:
i. Bit costly.
ii. May not continue for life long, hence may have side effects. ( personal experience: I have lost 10KG in 7 months from 86 to 76, but as soon as I stoped, I gain a lot and now I am 105. :((( so bit scarry of side effects !!!!!).
iii. Due to sometimes traffic we may have to wait for the machines/equipments.
iv. Feels little lazy to hit Gym daily... ( though it's contradicts with Pros as well... I feel that too....)
(2) Yoga or Home exercises ( Yoga, Floor exercises and/or walking/running):
a. Pros:
i. We can do it at our time (bestest thing I feel...)
ii. Almost at no cost...
iii. If we determine then we can do it regardless of places.
iv. No dependencies no machines so, no other issues...
b. Cons:
i. May not that much effective as GYM in terms of results... ( not for body building of course... but also for normal good strength/power and overall fitness also I guess.. please correct me if I am wrong).
ii. Will less likely to discontinue as it is depends on our determinassion, so lazy peoples ( like me :) ) will tend to stop it sooner or later...
iii. No professional guidance so fear of doing it wrong and will endup having other physical issues... ( biggest threat I guess)
iv. Due to no guidance, will endup in routine which will have lower impact in our body ( as our body will usedto having same exercises daily).

    Hi Mayuresh,
To lose weight you need to create negative caloric balance and for that matter any physical activity it can be aerobic exercises or strength training or yoga or so...
No matter where you workout in gym or home being regular and motivated towards your goal is important. As you have already mentioned pros and cons of both gym and home workout, choose what suits or appeals you. Weight loss program needs to be holistic in nature, just sticking to you exercises regime in not enough. Incorporated low caloric diet, healthy lifestyle, proper stress management etc. The most important thing you need to remember is weight loss is a gradual process, so have patience.
