There are many. More than 50.Recall your school biology classes .We had a separate unit on hormones. They are secreted by certain glands. Some of them are commonly talked of-like the thyroid hormones which become scarce in the body if you don't take iodised salt; others like steroids that helps the body use the protein you consume to build up muscles; insulin that breaks down glucose; oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone -the sex hormones etc. Some not-so much-talked of ones are glucagon, growth hormones(decides your height),epinephrine, melatonin etc. Some hormones are produced at specific times only -like the oxytoxin secreted in lactating mothers.

    Hey Sara,
Some of the human hormones are :
1.Erythropoietin EPO secreted by the kidney and stimulate erythrocyte production in bone marrow.
    2. Follicle-stimulating hormone FSH secreted by anterior pituitary and:- In female: stimulates maturation of Graafian follicles in ovary.
In male: spermatogenesis, enhances production of androgen-binding protein by the Sertoli cells of the testes
3.Gastrin GRP secreted by stomach, and causes secretion of gastric acid by parietal cells.
