What are the ill effects of diets low in carbohydrates?

    No diet is perfect, and every diet has its share or pros and cons. There are many side effects involved with a low carb diet, and dehydration is one among these. When you follow a low carb diet, your body's glycogen levels will come down quickly. This will result in a sudden loss of weight due to dehydration. The sad fact is people actually interpret this as healthy weight loss and further reduce their carb consumption. This diet can also decrease the body's metabolism and bring down the muscle density. Your muscles will start sagging after a point and your skin will also lose its tone.

    Carbohydrates are two types simple & complex.

    Simple carbs are high in sugars & low in fibers: These are more refined, are usually found in foods with fewer nutrients:Few examples for simple carbohydrate Table sugar,Corn syrup,Fruit juice,Candy,Cake,Bread made with white flour,Pasta made with white flour,Soda pop, such as coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, etc.,All baked goods made with white flour.

    Some examples of healthy foods containing complex carbohydrates:,Whole Barley,,Buckwheat,Apples,Lettuce,Buckwheat bread,Prunes,Water Cress,oat bran bread,Apricots, Dried,,Oatmeal,Pears,Asparagus,Oat bran cereal,Plums,Artichokes,Museli,Strawberries,Okra Wild rice Brown rice,Yams,Multi-grain bread,Carrots,Pinto beans ,Potatoes, Yogurt, low fat,Soybeans,Skim milk,Lentils, Navy beans,Kidney beans, Soy milk,Lentils,Whole meal,Split peas.

    Simple carbs are not good for health- this should be limited or avoided.

    Complex carbs are rich in fibers which is good for weight loss, helping to reduce cholesterol in the blood, maintain the glucose in the blood, it provides good energy to our body , etc.
