In India you do get pills over the counter. If you are familiar with the chemist he will definitely give you calcium pills, may be a few strong pills might not be easy to procure without prescription. My grandma always told me to have foods rich in calcium rather than take pills. The body can absorb natural foods which are high in calcium like milk, cheese, yoghurt, spinach, peas and almonds a lot more easily than taking supplements and pills. Taking too much calcium pills is not good as it can build up calcium deposits. Always check with your doctor if you need any supplement, be it calcium or iron.

    Hey Nicholas,
There are pills for calcium deficiencies available easily in market. Calcium tablets are mostly prescribed to women after menopause and other peoples who have calcium deficiencies. You should read the dosage written on the container before taking it without prescription. Or consult your doctor before consuming it.

There are many pills & many supplements are present for calcium deficiencies. BUt make sure before taking any supplements or pills consult ur doctor. Too much of pills or high intake of calcium is also good for health. Along with pills , diet is also very important to maintain ur calcium level- Include calcium rich foods as well in ur diet.
