Blood clots in the arteries and veins are common and these can occur due to a variety of different issues. Smoking is one of the main reasons for this type of problem. Blood clots in the pulmonary veins can be fatal, if they are not detected at an early stage. Arteries in the eye can also get blocked due to a blood clot or an atherosclerotic plaque. An inflamed blood vessel can also cause the vein to get blocked. Loss of vision is the affected eye is the main symptom of these types of blocks. They are usually painless. The vision loss can be gradual over a period of few weeks, so it is easy to detect.

    Hey Neha,
Plaque buildup is a build up of cholesterol, which collects in your arteries. This buildup begins early, sometimes in your teenage years, and is a slow, silent progression of coronary disease. This is what causes blockage in later stage of life.
