    Hi

There are five types of bone cells. Osteogenic cell, Osteoblasts cell, Osteocytes cell, Osteoclastes cell, Bone –lining cells. Osteogenic cells respond to traumas. Osteoblast cell is bone forming cells. Osteocytes cells are mature cell made from osteoblast. Osteoclasts are large cells in bone tissue. Bone-lining are regulate the movement of calcium & phosphate into & out of the bone.

There are 3 basic types of bone cells present known as osteoblasts, osteoclasts and osteocytes. Osteoblasts are the bone forming cells. They form the matrix of the bone. These cells secrete osteoid, made up of calcium and collagen. They are present at the marrow of the bone. Osteocytes are the mature form of osteoblasts, but they do not produce osteoids. Their main function is to maintain metabolism, mineral deposition and repairing of the bone tissue whenever needed. Osteoclasts play an important role in bone growth and healing. Their main function is resorption and degradation.2 other cells osteoprogenitors and bone-lining cells (both derived from osteoblasts) also work towards the bone health.

    Hi Bhavana,
I agree with Ravish. The earlier stage of bone formation occurs with osteoblasts cell then osteoclast cells and later hardening bone by osteocytes.
