I think it is called your base fitness level. As far as I know this is the term or it may also simply be known as the starting level. Were you expecting some fancy medical term? Sorry to disappoint. Moreover, what difference does it make? Whatever it's called before you start your workout your stamina and fitness level will be non existent. You will have to work out for a few months to get your fitness levels up. In fact some people require as many as six months getting their fitness levels up. You can gauge your levels using several tests that are available.

    Hey Mamtha,
Any starting fitness level is the basic fitness which then increases by improving your endurance level, fitness level, muscular strength and flexibility of muscles.
Fitness level can be measured by doing some of the below given tests:
    Aerobic fitness tests
Tests for aerobic fitness must use the same type of exercise as the sport in which the individual participates and often will involve a ‘time trial’ format.
    Muscular endurance tests
These tests may assess either dynamic muscular endurance (the capacity to repeat contractions) or static muscular endurance (the capacity to sustain a muscular contraction).
    Muscular strength tests
Tests for muscular strength should ensure that the muscles being assessed are appropriate and are used through a relevant range of movement, or in the case of static strength at a specific joint angle.
    Flexibility/joint mobility tests
Field tests for flexibility/joint mobility range from simple assessments of whether the individual can perform a specific task, to the measurement of joint angles and ranges of movement. Perhaps the most widely used of these is the Sit and Reach test.

Starting a fitness program may be one of the best things you can do for your health. Your current level of fitness will determine how difficult starting to run will be.The more you have done in the past, the easier it will be to get back to regular exercise. Dr. Asa Andrew presents a common-sense lifestyle approach to taking responsibility for our health. These ideas are based on his Health , helping you develop the three most important elements of a long and healthy life.
