How to measure RHR? Manually by counting heart beats in a minute would be a good idea?

From what I have read: if you have a low RHR that means that your heart has to work less to pump blood (which is good). I guess this translates to your heart working more efficiently.

It keeps on increasing as you age and it decreases as you become more fit. It generally ranges from 60-70. If you are an athlete then it can even be below 50 (Lance Armstrong had a RHR of 32).
