    A perfect exercise would cost very little, take less time, is enjoyable, maintain or develop fitness to the whole body, and has very less chances of injury. Skipping or rope jumping is a good form of exercise and completely fits into the criteria for the perfect exercise.It is a great calorie burner.It tones the upper and lower body as well as burn a large number of calories.It needs lot of coordination and if done wrong can put the direct stress on the ankle,knee and hip joints.The correct position is to land on your toes or ball of the toes not on the whole foot.This position makes skipping a low impact aerobic activity than running or jogging.It improves the cardiovascular endurance and neuromuscular coordination.With a fast speed,jumping rope can burn around 425 calories in 30 mins for a person weighing 68 kgs.

    Hi Abhishek,
    Jumping rope is a good home based cardio exercise which helps to burn calories. But our body tend to get used to a same exercise routine repeated for more than a month so its better to keep on making some variation. This variation can be in a form of pace, frequency, or change in exercise pattern. You can even try variations in jumping rope like.Single leg jumping, Double leg jumping, alternate leg jump,Single leg high knees, double leg high knees, Criss cross, run skipping,Ali Shuffle etc.
    Ali shuffle is like to use most of your Upper body while jumping rope like moving your upper body side to side, criss cross, back and front etc.
