Hi, I am new here but just wanted to start with my 2 cents on this article.
Another very important thing to bear in mind is the posture while sitting. Most of the guys who work sitting at a desk all day don't pay any attention to their posture while sitting. This includes me as well. Try to sit erect all the time with your body not slouching, this will help your back and prevent back pain. Experts, please pour in more tips.

Flex the trunk backward, forward and on either sides quite often, consciously, as it relaxes the trunk muscles which gets strained in the process of long hours of desk work.

Don't stick to your seat for long, just walk a little far for a mere glass of water.Try to drink warm water whenever possible, that will help in stimulating sluggish digestion due to inactivity and flush out toxins from your body.
After lunch spend some time with your friends and colleague just walking and talking, that will help in building relationship as well as keeping your body active for the ongoing digestion.

HI Venky, You need to workout cautiously as the weight training exercises will load your back if your back muscles are weak.So first strengthen your back muscles by doing back exercises daily. Then after 2 weeks start with cardio exercises like jogging, Marching, etc and weight training exercises like Push ups, Abbs exs etc.

    @ Amelia
Calorie is only one of the various factor that decides how much should be your food intake. What will be your appropriate diet can only be decided only after knowing your physical, physiological and medical condition.
General rule is to have low fat, high fiber food comprising mainly of fruits, salads and vegetables in the diet.

Hi I'm new. Trying to lose weight. I'm 5'8" weighing approx 240lb. My body build: large chest and large hips. My thighs have been large and muscular all my life even when I weighed 60kg in my teens. Right now I'm 26 and work 7pm - 8am, 3 night a week at the hospital so my eating & sleeping patterns are not regular. My biggest area is my tummy. Can you give me tips on how to lose my tummy with food/ drinks. Also its winter where I live so I cannot go out to exercise.

    Hi Obi,
Its is not required that you exercise outside. There are lot many options to workout at home. Taking in less calories would surely help to reduce weight but adding some normal exercises at home would burn your calories and can have more faster weight loss. Add some regular exercises like spot jog, dancing, skipping, lunges, squats, push ups, pull over, reverse dips, etc would help to burn more calories.
