It is believed that cool down for swimming is not essential as swimming is a slow and low impact exercise and the temperature of your body doesn't get raised like running or cycling. But warm up as well as cool down both are essential while swimming also. You'll feel exhausted while swimming but just don't stop at once. Bring your body to a normal condition by giving it breathing space. Do some simple stretching exercises each for 30 seconds at the edge of the pool to maintain your fitness level. These stretching exercises will bring your breathing, body temperature and also your heart rate back to normal slowly.

    Hey Kirsten,
Cool down exercises are as important as warm up exercises as it would help your body to recover from the vigorous exercises/ play. Overall body stretching and overall body cool down exercises are really important as swimming is a combination of overall body workout. Do cool down exercises like jumping, ankle rotations, thigh rotations, elbow rotations,or just floating slowly in water, etc.
