Gastritis is simply an inflammation of the stomach lining or an irritation of the lining. Diet includes:
*Patient should be given only warm water to drink during first 2 or 3 days as it will give rest to the stomach.
*After the acute symptoms subside, the patient should adopt an all-fruit diet for the next three days and take juicy fruits such as apples, pears, grapes, grapefruit, oranges, pineapple, peaches, and melons.
*The patient should avoid the use of alcohol, tobacco, spices and condiments, meat, red pepper, sour foods, pickles, strong tea and coffee. He should also avoid sweet, pastries, rich cakes, and, aerated waters.
*Yoghurt and cottage cheese should be used freely.
*Gradually consume a balanced diet consisting of seeds, nuts, grains, vegetables, and fruits.
*Coconut water is an excellent remedy for gastritis.
*Rice gruel is another excellent remedy for acute cases of gastritis.
*Potato juice has been found valuable in relieving gastritis
