No matter with what speed you run, marathon is an intense activity which is very hard on body. By the end of marathon your energy stores would have completely drained out, you may be dehydrated with loss of essential electrolytes etc. post game meal plays an important role in body’s recovery and restoring body stores .Immediately after the event you may feel nauseated for few hours. Don’t force yourself, take your own time try sipping an energy drink and have something like banana or orange. Once you are settled, try some easily digested and absorbable food rich in carbohydrate and protein. Simple proteins like whey protein and creatine ingestion can aid recovery and tissue repair. Along with these antioxidants plays an important role in reducing the oxidative damage that continues long after strenuous exercise. Antioxidant also lessens the post marathon muscle soreness which one suffers several days afterward.
