Jowar comes from the millet family that includes Bajra and Ragi. These millets form some of the staple diets in India and other South Asian countries. They are what people call the poor man's food, which are cheap but high in nutritional value. Since it is low in gluten value, it is recommended for Celiacs and those suffering from diabetes. Jowar when mixed with wheat gives people a good source of iron. This is the reason it is recommended for children. Adults to in India have Jowar roti's as a staple diet. Added to this, Jowar roti's are low in fat content, a reason why it is good for people who are going on diet.

Jowar is good source of protein & it covered with bran which is rich in B-vitamins. Jowar should be chewed well otherwise u'll feel like indigestion. The flour of whole grain is rich in fibers which gives full & good for constipation, weight management, etc.
