Low carb diets do help people prevent a couple of diseases, but the main fact is that these diets are very harmful to health. You can follow a low carb diet for a small amount of time as anything beyond this will surely drain your body off all energy. Studies have shown that low carb diets can help in preventing obesity. That's about it. The cons of such diets outweigh the pros, because low carb diets can strain your body after a point and cause heart failure. That doesn't seem like a fair trade, does it? Structure a diet with the help of your nutritionist without blindly following a system.

Carbohydrate is one of the important constituent of our diet. 60% of energy should come from carbohydrate followed by proteins and fats. So, staying in low carb diet for a prolong period of time might pose serious health concerns. However, you can substitute simple carbohydrate to complex carbohydrate. Such as Oats bran, wheat bran, Ragi or finger millet,Jowar, Bajra , Barley and Brown rice. This will you to keep your cholesterol levels in check. As a result, they will help to prevent heart disease and maintains your weight status. Avoid refined cereals like maida etc.
