I just found your website and I love it, I am losing weight by eating fruits vegetables chicken and turkey, lowfat foods, I have been dringing a lot of the lemon water and love it. I have a question is the calories in fruit fattening?? Is there any fruit I should stay away from and is there a fruit I should eat more of. Thanks.

@haydee- you should avoid the fruits high in carbs like banana, chikku(sapota), mango, custard appple. instead opt for more citrus fruits like, orange, sweetlime, pineapple.

Papal I will not bother too much anymore and thanks for the quick reply to my previous question. I have one more to ask??? If I drink Limes in my water is it the same as the lemon water? Sometimes I get limes for free and rather use then then to have to buy Lemons, either way I will still buy lemons. Thank you

What about fruits with milk shakes

@ haydee - hi again , The nutritional benefits of limes do not differ very much from those of lemons. They are both excellent sources of vitamin C, B6, potassium, folic acid, flavonoids and the outstanding phytochemical, limonene.
so noproblem u can have any of it.

@tony- scientifically there is no harm in mixing fruits with milk, rather they are an example of mutual supplementation, where in fruits high in vitamins and mineral are supplemented with the calcium and protein of milk, to provide a balanced nutritious drink !! though the combination of some particular fruits with milk is not really supported by some alternative medicine streams , like Ayurveda, bt scientifically no harm !!

Payal I eat a lot of grapes(the ones with the seeds) I notice you stated that the glycemic index is high. Do I need to slow down on eating grapes? I've been eating a lot of fruits and vegetables only for a few days and I really feel good. I also drink 8 glasses of water and work out on the elliptical for 45 minutes a day 5 times a week. I also love this website it is very helpful. Thanks FJ Bell

hi , F J .. no problem in eating red grapes, but please limit the quantity, and have them as a mid meal and not with any other food, this will raise ur blood sugar slowly. red grapes has gud amount of anti oxidant, which will boost your health.

Hey Payal! You mentioned that fruit is good at any time of the day. I had read somewhere that one should not eat fruit post sunset. Is that true? Also, any recom on serving size? Obviously the serving size will vary for every fruit, but is there a count that one should stick to? Thanks, Sim

@sim - hi ... there are lot of notions abt eating fruits .. but for a person with normal blood sugar level , fruits can be eaten any time ... restrictions come on serving portions for diabetics specially , but otherwise you can have fruit in any quantity at anytime, obviously this is a very general statement, as the kind of fruit eaten also matters. citrus fruits are more micro nutrient packed hence can be consumed in gud quantities.... where as fruits like banana, chikko, custard apple are high in carbs , so should b eaten in limitations.
