Before a workout, you need to eat a well balanced nutritious meal to help you through your exercises. You require glucose to fuel your workouts and that means foods rich in carbohydrates. The foods should be easy to digest and can include breads, fruits, pasta, drinks and energy bars. Your meal should be consumed at least one to two hours before your workout. The high glycemic index of the carbohydrates provides you with the instant energy and keeps your blood sugar at required levels to perform your workouts. Your meal should contain half the amount of calories you plan to burn during your exercise. If you plan on burning 800 calories, then your meal should provide you with 400. Eating the right food before your workout is the key to a successful exercise regime.
