That is a very good question. I haven't though of banana flower in such a long time. It used to a staple in my grandmother's house when I was growing up. It actually tastes pretty good considering it is a flower. Banana flowers are useful for digestion and they provide good digestive fiber. It is also helpful in treating anemia as it contains lots of iron. In fact both bananas and banana flowers are ideal for vegetarians who have an iron deficiency. In fact all parts of the banana plant have some use or the other.

Banana flower or plantain flower are cool in nature- Regular intake of plantain flower can cures the stomach ulcers, Drinking plantain flower soups mixed with cumin seeds can cure inflammation of eye, etc.
