What is the recommended diet post gallbladder surgery?

    The diet after gall bladder surgery should be the following-
    *It should be low in saturated fats and cholesterol like butter,cream,cheese,mayonnaise,ghee,whole cream dairy products,egg yolk,organ meat and red meat.
    *Moderate in unsaturated fats.Average intake of 4-5 tsp a day.
    *Rich in fiber like oats,whole grain or unrefined cereals,fruits,vegetables,sprouts,grams etc.
    *High in fluids.

    I completely agree with you Swati.Your diet should normally include The diet should include:Lean meat, skinned fish and chicken,Eggs,Skimmed milk,Low fat cheese, yogurts and spreads,Soups,Salads,Grilled fish and chicken,Legumes.
    And you should avoid foods like: Fried foods,Spicy food, Whole grain breads, Cereals, seeds and nut,Baked beans,Broccoli,Cabbage,Brussel sprouts,Cauliflower,Peanuts,Pastries etc.
    After the removal of the gall bladder, it is very essential to maintain a low carbohydrate and high protein diet will help you.
