According to me the best way to get distressed is to take out all the frustration on the paper by writing all the complaints and troubles...once you write down everything just tear the paper..this will really give you the feeling of peace and calmness..and you will definitely feel good...

A glass of tomato and carrot juice in the morning, helps in de-stressing, it stimulates the brain to release a hormone responsible for relaxation. people who have high mental stress, specially get benefited with this practice. if not this, atleast raw tomatoes should be consumed as salad.

Stress according to Yoga is imbalance.
During stress our body reacts by
    - pouring the stored sugar and fats into the blood-stream to provide fuel for quick energy,
-flooding the red blood cells into the blood-stream to carry more oxygen to the muscles of the limbs and the brain,
-speeding up the heart and soaring blood pressure ensuring sufficient blood supply to needed areas,
-ceasing digestion ,so that blood may be diverted to the muscles and the brain,
-loosening of bowel and bladder muscles etc.
Hence long duration of stress leads to Atherosclerosis,Diabetes,Hyperacidity,Colitis,
    Migraine,Tension Headache,Hypertension etc.

Hence one should be very careful about diet during this stressful life and try to revert this imbalance by pranayam, yoga, aerobic exercises, involvement in creative art, etc.

@ Celia its more than only weight gain..
Pure cocoa has positive effects on blood pressure and cholesterol and also prevents heart disease.
However, processed chocolate is what the majority of people are eating, and it contains added sugar, milk fats, saturated fats and corn syrup. These ingredients actually promote heart disease, weight gain, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

    diet tips for stress relief?
treat yourself to a vacation thats all in your head: Close your eyes and imagine a relaxing place, such as a beach, a mountain view, or a cozy room. Notice everything you can about your spot. What can you see and smell? The more vivid a picture you paint in your mind, the more your body will respond to the invitation to relax.
