    Hi Monika,

I have stayed in hostel all my study life , and i know how hard it is to manage good health and good food .. all you do is either hate the mess food or eat in restaurants , and health is completely side tracked , we have no control on what food would they cook in the mess, you got to eat what they serve. but here are some quick tips which you might feel of good use.

    - Amla murrabba, either the grated one or the whole 1 big piece one , you can ask your mum to make it for you or you can buy from market and keep with you , and start your day with it , amla being one of the best source of vit c, it would increase your immunity and you would fall sick less, help you beat stress and improve your concentration power. keep you fit ( even against the mess food lol ! )

    - similarly you can keep some figs and almonds in your cupboard, these have various health benefits like boosting memory and increasing the metaboli rate. and they also serve as a good mid time snack if hungry , trust me its better than muching the vadapavs from canteen and chips . these oily foods spoil our health and skin. my god imagine having a pimply skin due to the poily mess food and canteen food , soi these item would help in rescuing.

    - some other handy mid time snacks can b roasted chana, roasted peanuts , murmura, khakra, multigrain or soya/oats biscuits. rosted chiwdas. buying fruits in hostel daily is a good idea but is a little impracticle. you either forget to buy or if already bought, you forget to eat and then they get spoiled.

    - drink plentiful water specially early in the morning, it would help you in clearing your bowel and would also wash out the toxins from your body , prevents acidity too.

    - when eating outside , choose on healthier food items like cold coffee, idlies, dosa, brown bread sandwich, avoid fried foods like samosa and wada pavs, choose on regular roti than nan o kulcha, and choose fruit juices and coconut water.

    - if you have an electric kettle in room , you can also keep some green tea bags / sachets they rejuvinate and refresh you , tryst me very very helpful during the late night study hours during exams.
