Cancer treatment through diet depends upon the stages of cancer and area or organ affected. However, cancer a well balanced diet rich in calories in terms of high carbohydrate and high protein diet is recommended. Since cancer and its treatment can impact nutritional needs significantly and affect digestion, absorption and metabolism. Symptoms with a nutrition impact include nausea and vomiting, changes in taste and smell, bowel changes, dysphagia, anorexia, pain and fatigue. Therefore, food should be palatable and nutrient rich. Small and frequent meals which is rich in calories should be given. Advised to have lots of fruits and vegetables which are rich in antioxidant and phytochemicals. During the treatment of cancer, body resistance towards infection is very low, so one should ensure proper cleanliness and hygiene.

Very well said Ritu..I agree with you completely..Cancer is a degenerative disease which may effect the metabolism, the digestive system and the immunity of the person. So the diet diet should be adequate in carbs, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber. Protein intake should be good as the rate of catabolism is more than normal.
