    Hi

I think 2000 calories is advisable for diabetes. This is high calories diet plan so better to choose 1200-1500 calories in a day & Diabetes diet plan should contains low calories foods which is low glycemic foods, high fibers foods, moderate fat & good amount of protein. Any age group with diabetes should be consume upto 1600- 1800cals in a day.
