Hi mala ,
sujeetha has given some real nice menu suggestion for a 1800 cal diabetic diet . also whgile you change the menu to suit youu, remember to add a lot of fiber to the diet by increasing the consumption of whole grains and cereals , vegetables whether raw or cooked are best to keep blood sugar at bay.
as sujeetha has suggested , fruits should be taken only in the mid meal time rather then taking it along with any of your meal as it may bring unnc=ecesarry hike in the blood sugar level.
you can mix bran in the flour to increase the fiber content. avoid direct sugar consumption as far as possible .. and when you want to eat , have it at the time you are really hungry or in the early morning.
do not forget that no matter how well you are managing your diet , exercise is very important to diabetics , it helps in controlling the blood sugar levels to normal , as well as helpos in fighting many complication that diabetes can bring along , for ex cardiac problems , blood pressure can be contriolled better while you are on a good healthy diet and you are exercising along with it .
information is alwas necessary , so while buying any food product, make sure you read the labels to avoid unnecesary sugar spikes becoz of unknowingly eating something that is high in carbs , watch out for added corn starch or tinned products where sugar is basically used in excess for preservative purpose.
