Is it okay for diabetics to follow a 1500 Calorie Diabetic Diet Plan?

    When it comes to diabetics, there are a lot of options involved with regards to their nutrition. If you have diabetes, you'll probably need to consult your nutritionist or your dietician before you suddenly start off on any diet, because you never know what may cause your blood sugar levels to rise. When it comes to glycemic reactions, calories don't matter, and you'll have to keep this in mind throughout. The specific food items that diabetics can include in their diet are rice cakes, whole grain toasts, green beans, sweet potatoes and beef. Salads are fine too, as long as no items in the salad are forbidden for diabetics.

    Hi

    For diabetes , diet is more important to maintain the glucose level in the blood. Diabetic person should follow the diet plan according to their sugar level, weight & age. But if u r in overweight with diabetes then you can plan a diet for 1200-1500 calories. But don't skip or fasting . Follow the 4-5 small meals. Diet plan should include high fiber foods like vegetables, fruits(very limited & selected fruits because natural sugars are present in the fruit), drink plenty of water. Salt should limited, sugar should be avoided, oil should use only 3-4 tsp in a day. Choose high fiber breakfast cereals & healthy snacks.
    High calories fruits are avoided- mango, jack fruits, chikoo, dates, grapes(both the types), custard apple , pine apple , wood apple , sugar cane , all types of juices, canned juices.
    High calories vegetables are avoided- Potato , yam , tapioca, red pumpkin, colocasia.
