For diabetes , diet is more important to maintain the glucose level in the blood. Diabetic person should follow the diet plan according to their sugar level, weight & age. But if u r in overweight with diabetes then you can plan a diet for 1200-1500 calories. But don't skip or fasting . Follow the 4-5 small meals. Diet plan should include high fiber foods like vegetables, fruits(very limited & selected fruits because natural sugars are present in the fruit), drink plenty of water. Salt should limited, sugar should be avoided, oil should use only 3-4 tsp in a day. Choose high fiber breakfast cereals & healthy snacks.
High calories fruits are avoided- mango, jack fruits, chikoo, dates, grapes(both the types), custard apple , pine apple , wood apple , sugar cane , all types of juices, canned juices.
High calories vegetables are avoided- Potato , yam , tapioca, red pumpkin, colocasia.
