What are you going to do with a 100 different therapeutic effects? Are you doing research for a new book on virgin coconut oil? Most of the common oil that is available in the market is considered to be virgin. The therapeutic effects of coconut oil include hair care and scalp care. This type of oil helps to maintain the shine of the hair and it also repairs split ends and damaged hair. Unlike shampoos coconut oil is completely pure and organic and there are no side effects that this can cause. Coconut oil can also be used for massages when it is heated.

    Hi Supriya,

coconut oil though comes in the saturated fat category, it comes with a lot of benefits on health. ive tried to list some of them below.

Heart health : we are aware of the fact that saturated fat is not good for your heart .However, contrary to this belief, the lauric acid (a fatty acid )found in coconut oil helps prevent various heart problems including high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure.the saturated fats of coconut oil are not labeled as harmful. It does not increase LDL levels, and reduces the incidence of injury in arteries and helps in preventing atherosclerosis.

Hair health : its being used for hair since long long back . It acts like a conditioner to hair , softens hairs special for those who have frizzi / curly hair , massaging hair with coconut oil just before head bath would soften your hair. it is thought to be helpful in treating dandruff and lice, even if your scalp is dry. also helps in growth of long shiny healthy hair.

Skin health :massaging skin with coconut oil, specially during winters , treats the dryness and acts as a moisturiser.Alot of massage spas use 100 % virgiin coconut oil for body massages. It has antibacterial and antiseptic properties. it helps in relieving blisters, rashes and inflammation of skin. Coconut oil also helps in treatment of various skin problems like dermatitis, skin infections, psoriasis and eczema

The medium chain fatty acids in coconut oil are good in variuous stomach infection and digestive disorders. They are low calorie and do not circulate in the blood like other oils, they go straight to the liver and get converted into energy. It is also easy to digest and it helps in healthy functioning of the enzymes and thyroid systems. These fatty acids are also known to speed up the body's metabolism, burning more calories Consumption of coconut oil helps in improved digestion and thus prevents various stomach and digestion related problems including irritable bowel syndrome. The anti microbial properties of the saturated fats present in coconut oil helps in dealing with various bacteria, fungi and parasites that cause indigestion.

Coconut oil contains antimicrobial lipids, lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid which have antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties, thus strengthening the immune system. Lauric acid is transformed into monolaurin by the body which is an immune boosting antivira.

Infection: The lauric acid and caprylic acid in coconut oil make it uniquely effective in fighting all kinds of bacteria and viruses. and also help in wear and tear of cells .
